Second Chance Finale
Remember this is the split from the last chapter so it is more focused on Adrien, but there is Daminette.
Six months had passed since Mariquita took over for Ladybug and she had proven herself many times over. She was living up to her predecessor’s reputation.
Adrien wasn’t sure how long he had been staring at the email til Plagg waved Camembert under his nose.
“Plagg, gross!” he claimed, waving the air around him. “So, what does it say?” asked the tiny God of Destruction. “I’m invited to Marinette’s wedding on April 23rd. She says she also sent an invite to the house, so to look out for it. Mari says she also invited Chloe, Kagami, Luka, and Max. We are allowed to bring a plus one. It also says that Layla isn’t invited and even if we bring her, she’s banned from all establishments. Security has her photo.” Adrien scanned over the email. “Who are you taking?” asked Plagg. “I was thinking Nino. He seems to be on good terms with her now and she’s known him for a long time.” Adrien responded, thinking back to all their weekly gaming sessions, “Besides, I’m sneaking you in.” “You think she’ll have cheese?” Plagg asked, causing Adrien to laugh. “The invitation say buffet, so it’s possible” he answered. “Yes!” cheered the cat kwami.
“Adrien.” Natalie called out, knocking on his door, “Your father would like to have a word with you.” “Coming, Natalie.” he called back. Natalie lead him to his father’s office and waited to be summoned in.
“Adrien, it seems you have been invited to Ms. Dupain-Cheng’s wedding.” spoke Gabriel. “Yes, Father.” the Agreste heir, replied. “You’ll be taking Ms. Rossi, as your plus one.” Gabriel continued. “i’m sorry, Father, but I can’t do that.” cried out Adrien. Gabriel rose a brow as Adrien pulled out his phone. Adrien sighed and showed his father the email, stating that Layla was banned from the premises of all wedding venues.
Layla opened the door to Gabriel’s office, smiled as she said, “Knock, knock.” Adrien turned to look at his father, who had already turned away from him. “Adrien! I’m so glad you invited me to Marinette’s wedding! I really want to apologize to her.” Layla spoke with a smile, “I just wanted to thank you. I need to go shopping and get ready.” “I’ll take her, but when she’s turned away at the door. I won’t deal with her. She can cry in the hotel for all I care. I’m going to Gotham to watch my best friend get married.” Adrien spoke, leaving his father’s office.
“Well, that sucks.” he said, walking back into his room. “What did he do now?” asked Plagg. “He invited Layla to be my plus one, without telling me!” shouted the model. “We can just empty her bags and stuff my cheese in there. Camembert is more important anyways.” smiled Plagg, making Adrien laugh. “It’s a tempting idea, but she’s already going to be turned away at the door.” Adrien replied. “Fine, but I still think my idea is better!” Plagg stated, before whizzing away to eat more cheese.
Sure enough, Layla was stopped at the church doors. “I’m sorry, Mr. Agreste, but your plus one is not allowed in the venue.” spoke security. “That’s perfectly alright with me. I can still go in, right?” he asked. “Yes.” the security spoke, confused, but allowed him entrance. “Adrien!” Layla shouted. “What? I didn’t want to bring you. I had no intentions of even asking you! I don’t know what you did to get in my father’s pocket, but you should probably whine to him about it. It is his fault your here anyways, right?” Adrien smiled, before walking into the venue, leaving Layla fuming.
“Alright, Agreste. What’s the big idea, bringing Rossi here?” asked Tim. “Surely, you got the email that she wasn’t invited?” commented Jason. “I didn’t want to bring her!” Adrien yelled, after being pulled off to the side, “Father had already invited her on my behalf, when he showed me the wedding invite. I had already seen the email and told him I wouldn’t help her get in when she was turned away.” The three brothers stared at him, looking for a hole in his story. “are you staying in the same hotel?” asked Tim. “More like the same room.” Adrien shuddered. “Don’t worry.” Dick spoke, placing a hand on his shoulder, “We’ll take care of everything. Go take a seat.”
“What are you thinking, Dick?” asked Tim. “Well, Daddy Agreste seems to want these two together, whether it’s a publicity stunt or not. I say we help the poor kid.” smiled Dick. “Call the hotel and have his bags ready for pick up.” suggested Jason, “I’ll see if Alfred can make a pit stop and pick up his things. He’ll stay with us.” “I’ll see if Barb can change their flight schedules. We’ll get that liar out of here and Agreste can enjoy a small vacation.” smiled Time, before heading towards the bridal suite.
“You look beautiful, Marinette.” proudly stated Sabine. “Don’t cry, Maman. I’ll start to cry!” smiled Mari. “Your mother is right, Blossom, you do look radiant in that dress.” smiled Kagami. “Knock his socks off!” shouted Chloe, “Well, at least on your honeymoon.” “CHLOE!” exclaimed the blushing bride. “Oh relax, Dear. Besides, Chloe is right. Your father and I are waiting on grandkids!” laughed Sabine. “Maman! Do not encourage her!” shouted Mari, while her friends laughed.
A knock drew their attention away. “It’s Bruce.” he called, “May I come in?” They turned to Marinetee who just nodded. Bruce walked in and gazed upon his future daughter-in-law. “Marinette, you look lovely.” he said. “Thank you, Bruce. Is everything okay?” Mari quickly questioned. “Yes. Everything is fine, but i had something to give you. If that’s alright?” he hesitated. Mairnette nodded and watched him bring a long black box out from behind his back. “I don’t know if you have anything, but-” Bruce opened the box to reveal a necklace. “This belonged to my mother. I think she would have liked you to wear this.” Marinette gasped as she looked at the necklace. “Are-Are you sure?” she questioned. “Yes.” he answered. “Would you put it on me?” Marinette blushed. Bruce gently clasped the necklace around her neck and watched her beam brighter in the mirror. “It’s perfect, Dear.” smiled her mother. “I agree.” stated Bruce, “It’s like it was meant for you.” Marinette covered her mouth and hugged him. Bruce was already like a second father to her. “Thank you, Bruce.” she whispered, before he left the room.
“So, you have something borrowed. Check. Something new?” questioned Chloe. “I made my wedding dress, Chloe.” Marinette stated, daring Chloe to say anything. “Fine.” she said, eye rolling the bride, “Something blue?” “I stitched some light blue into the dress.” stated Mari. “Something old?” she asked. “Her hairpiece. It was my mothers.” answered Sabine. “Check.” answered Kagami, “We should make sure everything is still running smoothly.” “I’ll be right back, Sweetheart. I’m going to check on your father.” Sabine said, leaving Marinette to her thoughts. ‘Oh, Tikki. I wish you were here.’
“Alright, Demon Spawn. You’re going to get this right the first time!” suggested Jason. “Marinette’s already family to us. You better keep her happy.” said Tim. “Ease up, guys. I’m sure he knows this.” stepped in Dick. “Never thought you would be the voice of reason, Dick.” said Damian, as he fixed his tie in the mirror.
They had already decided to remain silent about the “Layla Incident’ til after the wedding. “Listen, none of us have any advice for you.” answered Dick, “Keep her happy. That’s all we can say.” “After everything, the last thing I want to do is hurt her.” answered Damian, staring at the mirror. “Did you get a peek at the dress?” asked Jason, wiggling his eyebrows, suggestively. “No.” sighed the groom, “Once she started working on it, I was banned from entering her room. She said if I went in, she’d push back the wedding.” Tim whistled. “She’s got you, Brat. If you hadn’t met her already, I would have told you to go after her.” Damian rolled his eyes at his brother’s idea of a bonding moment. “We have five minutes. Places, Boys.” called Bruce.
Once his brothers left the room, Bruce put his hand on Dmaian’s shoulder. “I’m proud of you, Damian. You chose a great wife.” Bruce smiled, as he held the door open for his son to head the alter. “Any advice, Father?” questioned the groom. “Remember to breathe.” Bruce smirked. ‘Why would I need to remember to breathe?’ Damian questioned, but once he saw Marinette walking down the aisle, he realized why.
Adrien smiled as the wedding march began and stood up eagerly to see his best friend get married. He gasped as Marinette walked down the aisle, with her father towering over her. He had always called her his Princess and now she finally looked like one. He watched the smiled he once knew, shine brightly again. Adrien noticed that Damian looked at her like she was his whole world. He knew she was in good hands. It wasn’t until the reception that something clicked.
“Marinette, may I have a dance?” Adrien asked, politely. “Sure, Adrien.” she smiled. “I’m sorry I was an idiot, M’Lady.” Adrien commented, as they slow danced. “Chat?” Marinette asked, staring at him in shock.
Damian noticed right away that his wife had suddenly become uncomfortable with her old friend. “Damian.” Jason said, “Wait til the dance is over. You know she can handle herself.” Damian didn’t like it, but he kept her in line of sight.
“To think, all that time, I was fighting myself for your affections.” Adrien chuckled. He noticed Marinette’s tiny shift in expression and smiled, “I’m glad your happy, Bugaboo. You may never truly be M’Lady, but you’ll always have a spot in my heart.”
Damian was the first to see his wife’s tears and Dick stood in his way. “Move!” he glared. “You can’t cause a scene.” Dick answered, “It seems like they’re having a conversation.” Damian watched as Marinette’ face bloomed into a smile and she hugged the young Agreste heir.
“Thank you, Chat.” Marinette whispered, “You’ll always be in mine, too.” “Friends?” asked Adrien. “Best friends.” she smiled. “Super best friends!” he cried, causing her to laugh once more, “So, how was your ‘honeymoon’?” “Is that what she went with?” Mari asked. “I’ll fill you in later, Buginette. I wish I had known. I only have Plagg with me. Adrien answered. “How is the cheese demon?” Marinette giggled. “Probably stuffing his face.” the model replied, as they both looked towards the buffet laid out, “Sorry. I didn’t realize sooner. I would have-” “Tikki, has to stay in Paris, Adrien, until Hawkmoth is defeated. You know that.” Marinette said, giving him a pointed look. “There’s my Bugaboo.” he said, earning him an eye roll. “I know what you mean, though. It doesn’t feel right without Tikki here. I had hoped she’d be here to see this day, but....I sewed some ladybugs into my wedding dress for good luck.” Marinette whispered. Adrien just smiled back. “I’ll see if I can borrow her to show her pictures. I’m sure she’d be very happy for you, Bug. Thank for letting me bunker down in your old room.” Marinette smiled, “Any time, Alley Cat. I hope my parents are feeding you.” “I think I’ve been adopted.” Adrien whispered back, causing her to laugh again. “We’ll chat later, but you really do look like a Princess, Marinette.” he said, before placing a kiss on her hand, as Damian approached them. Adrien handed her over to Damian, who stared at them skeptically. “Take care of her; she’s one of a kind.” Damian nodded and Marinette smiles as Damian leads her into teh next dance.
“Adrien? What are you doing here?” asked Marinette at breakfast the next day. “Um.” Adrien looked towards Damian’s older brothers, “I’m staying here?” “Why?” asked Damian, still upset that he made his wife cry. “We decided to give Agreste, here, a vacation.” Stated Tim, as he took another sip of coffee. “Apparently, Daddy Agreste forced him to bring a date.” said Jason, before shoveling eggs into his mouth. “He made him bring the liar.” Dick said with a yawn. “DICK!” shouted his brothers. “WHAT?” shouted the newlyweds. “We were getting to that!” yelled Tim, glaring at his eldest brother. “I was going to ask Nino to come when I read your email, but Father found your invite and had already invited her on my behalf.” Adrien sighed, “I told him I wasn’t getting her in there. As punishment, I guess, he only booked a one room hotel.” “Adrien, you can’t-” she began. “I know! I, um-” he almost forgot where he was and who he was with. “It’s okay, Kitty. You’re safe here. They know.” Marinette said, softly. “I suggest we move this conversation to the living room. Alfred may have taken your parents to the airport, but should anything happen, we’ll see the door better from there.” Damian said.
And so a family meeting was called. Selina watched in amusement as Marinette had both boys on either side of her. They weren’t fighting, but she held control of the room. “Adrien, you can’t let Gabriel keep controlling you like this.” began Marinette. “Kitten, you need to let him speak.” Selina called out. “Kitten?” Adrien questioned. “I’ve unofficially been adopted by Selina and she insists on calling me ‘Kitten’.” Mari said, rolling her eyes. “Perhaps, I should take Agreste instead.” Selina smiled. “Oh no!” Marinette shouted, standing quickly, “He’s already my kitten!” The boys chuckled at Damian’s confused face. “Angel?” Marinette rolled her eyes, “You know what I mean. He’s my partner! Even...Even if I’m not Ladybug anymore, he’s still my partner; my kitty.” she whispered, taking a seat with a frown. “It’s okay, Bugaboo. I know what you mean.” Adrien said, patting her knee, “Paris might have a new Ladybug holder, but you’re still M’Lady. Even if you are married.” “Well, you my kitten, so by extension, he’s mine too.” Selina smirked, interrupting the confusion. “All this yelling over the kid. I have seniority here and they are my kittens. I out rule you!” Plagg cries out, flying out of Adrien’s shirt, “What’s a cat kwami gotta do to get some sleep around here?” “Hello, to you too, Plagg.” Marinette laughs, holding out her hand.
“Yeah, yeah.” he said, gliding over to her hand. “Adrien, it’s best to keep these two apart.” Mari whispered. “Why?” he asked, watching Plagg curl up for a nap in Marinette’s hand. “I use to be a bit of a cat thief.” smiled Selina. “A bit?” voiced Bruce, causing Selina to roll her eyes. “Adrien, you look like her son when your Chat Noir.” Marinette told him. ‘Black Cat, pfft.” thought Damian, rolling his eyes. “Really?” he questioned, looking at Selina. “Minus the blonde hair, but yeah.” “No way!” cried Tim. Adrien just shrugged and cried, “Plagg, Claws Out!” “Nooooo! I was just getting-” Plagg whined as he was summoned into the miraculous.
Selina slinked her way around Chat Noir, sizing him up, while the others were shocked to see that he did look similar to their Catwoman. The Waynes stared at the model now dressed in a leather catsuit. “Such a pretty kitty.” she cooed at him, scratching under his chin. Chat Noir’s tail and ears twitched with the unaccustomed praise. Adrien tried to resist, but the purr still came out. Embarrassed, he hissed and jumped away. “Plagg, Claws In.” he spoke, returning to Mari’s side. “Are you sure I can’t have him as a kitten?” Selina asked, taking her seat by Bruce, smiling. “No!” Marinette and Adrien shouted. “Adrien is already claimed by Plagg and Gotham doesn’t need you and Plagg causing mischief.” Marinette continued. Plagg hovered over Selina’s head, as if judging her. Selina smiled as Plagg tapped a paaw to her forehead and deemed her worthy of his praise. “You’re my kitten now, too.” the tiny God, smirked, before nestling into her hair. “Would you like some tuna, little one?” Selina asked. “Ewww, no! I only eat the finest of Camembert!” shouted Plagg. “Well, aren’t you a picky one.” Selina stated. “No, i just know what I like.” Plagg retorted.
“Mari, I might have to tell your parents who I am.” Adrien spoke, softly, redrawing attention to himself. “What? Why?” she questioned, “You know we’re not-” “I know!” he shouted, “But-But, I was thinking of leaving the manor. Father will probably try to keep me there, as punishment. He’s lock me back up in the house, if he knew that I was planning on leaving him.” “Adrien.” she whispered. “Do you think they’d let me bring things over slowly and let me stay as myself?” “Oh, Kitty. You remember how much I worried over you and I didn’t even know who you were. My parents will be ten times worse.” Marinette replied with a hug. She smiled softly at the shocked look on his face, “You said it yourself, you felt adopted. So is my Alley Cat going to be a good House cat?” “I will, M’Lady.” he sobbed. Marinette brought Adrien into a hug and comforted him as he began to cry. Damian looks at her , but she just smiles back. “You’ll make a great mother, someday, Angel.” Damian whispered in her ear, as she comforted her friend. Marinette blushed, trying to focus on running her fingers through Adrien’s hair to calm him down. “Soon.” he whispered, kissing her pulse before getting up. “Damian?” she called. “I’m going to reschedule our trip. He needs your right now and we’ll help him get through this together.” he smiled. Marinette watched her husband leave the room, knowing she made the right decision to marry him.
“How are you, Bro? It feels like ages since we met up.” said Nino, as Adrien met up with him at the cafe. “Sorry, it’s been crazy these last couple months.” Adrien answered, taking a seat. “Your old man running you ragged with photoshoots?” the DJ asked. “No. Actually, I-” he began. “Nino! Keep Agreste right there!” Alya called out, dragging Layla behind her. ‘Great.’ thought Adrien.
“You have a lot of nerve for what you did to her.” Alya shouted, pushing Layla between the, “How could you take her to a wedding and not fight for her to get in?” Adrien sighed, pulled out his phone and gave it to Nino. “Go ahead and read it, Nino.” then turned to face Alya, “I didn’t even invite Layla. My father did, on my behalf. i was going to take Nino. Why the hell would I take her to Marinette’s wedding, if they can’t stand each other?” “She-” Alya questioned, before looking down. “He’s right. it’s in her email for him to look out for the invite and that Layla isn’t invited.” Nino continued for him. “Yeah, Father found it and invited her. I told him I wasn’t getting her in the wedding.” Adrien replied back to Nino. “Dude! I’m so proud of you! Standing up to your old man!” Nino examined. “How could you?” Layla sobbed, but only earned an eye roll from the boys. Only Alya was left in her corner.
Were you really going to take me?” Nino asked, handing him back his phone. “I thought it’s be like old times. Half the old class was there.” Adrien said, picking up the menu. “Who?” questioned Alya. “Kagami and Luka went together. Ma took Alix and Chloe took Nathaniel.” he answered, without looking up from the menu. “Chloe was invited?” shouted Alya, “They’re not even friends!” “Actually, they are. They have been for awhile since you guys were ignoring her in favor of Layla, here. Chloe asks for commissions, too.” Adrien stated. “But-” Alya began.
“So, how did your dad react to you not complying with his wishes?” interrupted Nino. “He made us share hotel room.” Adrien scowled, “But, it comes in handy to have friends in higher places.” “What do you mean?” the budding journalist asked. “Well, I got pulled off to the side, immediately, by Damian’s older brothers. They were asking why I brought her, knowing the email said no one should. I told them Father made me bring her and I didn’t find out til after the reception, but they kidnapped me and took me to stay at the Wayne Manor.” Adrien explained. “What?” shouted the three. “It was amazing! Way bugger then Father’s house.” Adrien smiled, “They even bought me another plane ticket to stay longer.” “Really?” asked Nino, noticing his girlfriend had decided to remain silent, “What did you do that whole time?” “I fenced here and there with Damian. He’s a pro; he could probably give Kagami a run for her money. Um, I played chess with Barbara; she’s not adopted into the Wayne family ‘per se’, but she goes over all the time. Her dad’s the head of the GCPD. I played in the arcade room with Tim and Jason. We kept trying to get the high scores. well, at least til Mari came in and kicked our butts. She walked out after she destroyed us and Damian just walks by and said , ‘That’s right, My Angel can kick your asses!’ It started this whole argument between him and Tim, who yelled back, ‘Come and say that to my face!’ Damian replied, ‘Why? You want me to kick it?’ All of a sudden, these three bring me to a dojo that have in their house! Apparently, Bruce preferred that all of his sons learned how to defend themselves. Oh, and Damian’s brothers taught me some martial art moves while I was there. Marinette took them all down!”
“Your dad didn’t freak?” asked Nino. “Yeah, but I don’t live there anymore so...” Adrien shrugged. “You have your own place!” exclaimed Nino, “Bro, you’ve been holding out.” but Adrien just laughed, “No. I’m staying in Marinette’s old room now. Tom and Sabine have been very nice and are teaching me how to bake. In fact, I’m going to spend the upcoming summer in Gotham. Marinette and Alfred are going to be overlooking my cooking skills while the bakery is busy.” “Really?” asked Layla, scowling, “What for?” “Alfred and Marinette started teaching me the basics of cooking while I was there. It’s just like science, except I get to eat it!” he replied, causing Nino to laugh, “Anyways, Tom and Sabine said once my skills get better, they’ll let me work in the bakery!” “What about university?” questioned Alya. “I applied for culinary school.” Adrien smiled, “I start in September!” “I’m so proud of you!” Nino cried, hugging his best friend.
“Sounds like you made some friends with the Waynes.” pouted Alya. “Oh, yeah. They’re all great. I think Selina was seriously trying to adopt me, though. i mean, Bruce is Damian’s father, but he has like ten kids who he’s adopted or they just hang out there all the time. I think I would have said ‘yes’ but the Dupain-Cheng’s have been so good to me, even before the wedding.” answered the former model. “Are you gonna change your name?” asked Nino, seriously. “I’m not gonna lie and say I haven’t thought about it. Adrien Duapin, no, Adrien Dupain-Cheng?” replied Adrien. “You would throw away your father’s legacy?” questioned Layla, slamming her hand on the table. “It was never a legacy I wanted to be a part of.” glared Adrien, “I never wanted to model. I wanted to get out of that place and modeling allowed me to do that. Then, i ran away to public school. All I have ever wanted was to be normal! I don’t care about my face plastered everywhere or my name is light; I just want to be Adrien.”
Layla leaned back into her seat. Her dreams were being crushed by the second. ‘Why go for a former model? There’s no way he’ll keep his looks in that bakery. He was perfectly preserved in his father’s care and now he’ll probably end up with burns. Not to mention, all that weight he’ll gain from eating. Looks like I won’t be needing these losers anymore.’
Adrien was startled awake by a phone call at midnight. “Huh? Hello?” he answered. “Adrien? Oh my god, did I wake you up? What time is it there?” Marinette replied. “Marinette? Wait, is everything alright? Are you hurt? Are the Waynes okay?” he questioned. “Yes. we are all okay.” she said, making him sigh in relief, “Sorry for waking you up.” “It’s alright. I don’t have to get up for class for another seven hours.” Adrien spoke, “What did you want to tell me?”
Marinette giggled and told him to check his phone. Adrien opened his text messages and shouted, “Are you serious?” “Yes!” she cried. “What’s all the yelling about? Do you realize what time it is?” whined Plagg, rubbing his eyes. “Plagg, look!” Adrien smiled brightly, shoving his phone in his kwami’s face. Plagg blinked away the brightness and saw a small shirt that read ‘I have a pawsome uncle!” in bright green on a black shirt.
“Really?” he shouted back. Marinette giggled at their reactions. “Are you certain, M’Lady? Oh, have you made any appointments? How far along are you?” Adrien began to question. “I just found out today, Chat. We’ve scheduled an appointment and I will send reports your way once I know more.” mari replied. “I’m gonna be an uncle!” he shouted, making her laugh again. “I’ll let you get some sleep. Tell my parents to call me when you see them so I can tell them the news.” she spoke again. “I will, Bugaboo!” Adrien smiled. “Get some sleep, Kitty. You still have class in the morning.” she playfully scolded.
‘Marinette, are you waking people up?’ he heard Damian question. ‘But-’ ‘No buts. You can tell them in the morning. Alfred has some food made up for you to eat. Your intake of what you can eat has changed.’ ‘But-’ “Here, give me the phone and go find a snack.’ ‘Fine’ Adrien always laughed at their interactions. Damian was the only one he knew that could deal with her stubbornness.
“hello?” he heard Damian speak into the phone. “Congratulations, Damian.” Adrien responded. “Adrien, how are you? Did Marinette wake you up?” Damian asked. “She did, but the news was worth it.” he answered, “She’s lucky to have you. “I think I’m the lucky one.” Damian whispered, “I’ll let you get some sleep. Maybe try to call her when she’s asleep so she knows what it’s like.” “No way. I’m not facing her wrath on my next visit!” Adrien replied. He could feel Damian’s smirk over the phone. “Good night, Adrien.” he spoke. “Night, Damian.” Adrien yawned, hanging up.
“Kid, can I go tell Tikki?” questioned Plagg, “It’s been a while since any of her chosens had a mini bug.” “Let’s wait til we see them on patrol, Plagg. I’ll hide somewhere close by that way you can talk with her and give her the good news.” Adrien answered, before settling back into his pillow. A smile crossed his face as he drifted off to sleep. ‘Mini Bug.’

FACTS
This is a really great point, and while Damian probably wouldn’t be one to go on vacation it could at least be used as common ground.
Most writers usually take advantage of her love of fashion for fluff scenes with gifts and romantic ones where Damian draws her (I am guilty of both) but imagine them arguing over which is the best sketching tool, the best kind of paper, sharing tools and trading. Marinette getting frustrated with so many ideas and not enough time to jot them all down and Damian just drawing something for her so she can go back to it after because he gets it. Spontaneously stopping to sketch, dates where they stroll and draw. The possibilities are endless.
daminette?
Besides watching the controversies and confusion on dc servers grow (I’m still confused at how this is a thing but ok) why do they follow really similar formats?
Like why has no one wrote about their common love of art?
Damian can draw. Marinette loves fashion. I’m not up to date on either canon ( dc has too much canon and I watch mlb second hand through my brother who refuses to acknowledge he keeps watching it cos he likes it), but I’m more confused at why no one has attempted this besides school trip to gotham trope. Isn’t Paris supposed to be a city of art?

Second Chance Part 2
“Hello, this is Lora Dubois. I am the principal of Parisian University where your niece, Layla Rossi, attends. It has come to my attention that we need to speak face to face, regarding your niece.” explained Lora. “Is Layla in trouble?” asked the voice. “It is quite possible, at this point, that she may be expelled.” spoke Lora, “I would like to speak with you and your husband in regards to these matters that have come into the light.” “I will call him and we can meet with you at 2PM.” voiced her aunt. “Thank you and please, do not tell Li-Layla. I would like to hear her reasonings behind these matters.” “Of course.”
“Thank you, both for meeting with me. We are just waiting on one-” spoke Lora, as she was interrupted by a knock. “Come in, Caline.” “Hello. Oh, you must be Li-Layla’s guardians.” said Ms. Bustier. “Yes and we are confused as to why we are here. you said it was possible for Layla to be expelled?” questioned her uncle. “I’m afraid most of this is my fault.” explained Caline, “I had your niece in College and as she was a very....expressive girl. I took what she said at face value. Earlier this week, we were told that we would be getting a visit from Damian Wayne to encourage donations for the Wayne Gala, here in Paris. All donations would be directed towards the children’s hospital, here in Paris. Your niece told many of her classmates that she knew him since childhood. Damian ousted her in front of everyone that he didn’t know her and it seems he did a background check on the class before arriving. Up until now, we had no idea you were her guardians.” “What do you mean?” asked her aunt. “LI-Layla has expressed since she arrived here in Paris that she would journey with her parents to far off places and would be missing school for up to months at a time. Today, Damian told the class her parents died in a plane crash five years ago. Is this true?” spoke Lora. They nodded. “This is probably our fault. We have always been busy people and talked about this before, but we have never wanted a child. When my sister died, we were asked if we wanted Layla. If she didn’t come with us, she would be put into the system.” explained her aunt, “We assumed that since she didn’t need constant care, she would be fine with our busy schedules. i think we both can see that is not the case.” “We also called Principal Damocles at College Francoise Dupont. She has many months of unexcused absences and also expressed many different disabilities. We would like to know if any of those are true.” spoke Lora. “As far as we know of, she has no disabilities.” sighed her aunt. “I see. With how much work she has missed since she moved to Paris, we are concerned that she didn’t retain that knowledge. Out best bet would be to place her in summer school to make up for her absences in college, but she would have to be held back and retake this year. Which means, she will not graduate with her class in two weeks. With your permission, we would like to remove her, effective immediately, from the class and into a remedial class.” Her guardians looked at each other and said “Yes.”
“It’s been one week since Marinette’s boyfriend showed up and they’ve already kicked Lila out of the class!’ thought Alya, angrily. The inspiring journalist stared at the empty seat next to her. She missed her friend. Sometime after Marinette claimed she no longer loved Adrien and she had somehow become engaged, Lila had been summoned to the principal’s office and hadn’t returned. Lila also wasn’t answering her text messages. ‘Why is Marinette so jealous of her? What does she have against Lila?’ she wondered as she looked at the back of the class. Alya had also noticed Adrien attempting to hang out with Marinette more. Sure enough, as soon as the bell rang, Adrien had dashed up the stairs to Mari’s side. “Hey, Marinette. Are you excited for the gala?” the model asked. “Yep. I haven’t seen Bruce or Selina in awhile. Apparently, all of Damian’s brother are coming.” Marinette smiled. “Cool. When was the last time you saw them?” he asked. “Damian and Bruce visited for Christmas, but I haven’t everyone since last summer. I can’t wait to see them all.” she answered, as she finished packing her stuff away, “Are you going to the gala?” “yes. So will my father.” Adrien replied. “Oh! Well, I’ll see you then.” she waved, as Damian appeared in the doorway.
“Hey!” shouted Alya, down the hall, “When are you going to get off your high-horse Mari and finally admit you were wrong?” “About what?” asked Mari, clinging on to Damian. “Lila! She’s not answering my text or calls. Hell, she’s not even coming to class! What did you do? get your boy-toy to pay someone to get her out of your hair?!” questioned Alya. “Marinette handed Damian her things and stood in front of Alya’s angered stance. “I don’t know where Layla is.” she stated calmly. “It;s Lila!” the reporter cried out. Mari rolled her eyes. Apparently her former friend, the reporter, was still a hypocrite. It seemed like it was never about getting the proof to show how Layla was a liar, it was about the liar herself. Alya wanted her to be right! “I don’t know why she isn’t answering you calls or texts and I certainly don’t know why she isn’t showing up to class. It could just be because she’s embarrassed that she lied about knowing my fiancee, but what would I know?” Marinette turned and left Alya there, in shock. “Alya, why would you yell at Mari?” asked Nino. “Because she’s lying!” Alya cried back, her eyes getting watery, “Lila got called to the office after he shows up and says he doesn’t know her. How is it not her fault?” “Mari didn’t do anything. She said she tried to prove it to you, in class, but you took Layla’s word over hers.” Nathaniel replied, as the rest of the class started to filter out. “Layla’s probably embarrassed. like Marinette said.” explained Adrien. “You! Why are you all of a sudden getting friendly with Mari, hmmm? Lila’s out of the picture so what, Marinette’s your best option?” asked Alya. “I don’t like Layla. We’re barely even friends.” he replied, shocking the class. “But she’s always holding onto you and-” Rose began. “Yeah, that’s her doing. Not me. I don’t like people grabbing onto me. The only reason I allow Chloe to do it, is ‘cause I’ve known her since we were practically babies.” Adrien answered. “What about Marinette?” asked Juleka. “What about her?” he questioned. “You have been trying to hang out with her more.” Mylene pointed out. “Yeah, and she pointed out how lousy we were as friends. Marinette’s the first friend I ever made by myself.” Adrien stated. “What am I then?” yelled out Nino and Chloe, simultaneously. “Chloe, our parents knew each other so we just grew up together naturally. Nino, you asked to be my friend after finding out that Chloe was my only friend, but Mari....After that incident with the gum, she would barely look at me. I found time later to apologize and explain. She’s the first person I made a friend with, all on my own. No parents. No pity. She’s always been there for me and I wasn’t there for her.” Adrien answered. “But-” Alya began. “Oh, my ride’s here. I need to get ready for the gala. I’ll be going with Father.” he said quickly, before taking off. Alya observed her classmates get excited for the stupid gala. She was going to get proof about Lila. Damian had said Prince Ali was going to be there and he would tell everyone about his and Lila’s accomplishments. Lila would be back in the class and everything would be right as it should be.
“Thank you, Alfred.”chimed Marinette as they arrived at Le Grand Paris. “It has been a pleasure to drive you ladies. Enjoy the gala and please try to keep the boys out of trouble.” replied Alfred. “Of course, Alfred.” smiled Selina. “Thank you for taking care of Tikki.” whispered Marinette. “It’s my pleasure, Miss Wayne.” smiled Alfred, causing the young Ladybug to blush. “Don’t worry. We’ll be close by and I have plenty of cookies.” winked Tikki from Alfred’s pocket. Marinette nodded and followed Selina inside. As they entered the ballroom for the gala, mari noticed the boys waiting for them by the bottom of the stairs. “Do you remember what I taught you?” questioned Selina. “If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to walk in these heels.” Marinette whispered from behind her. “Selina! You look--” began Bruce. “I believe the word you’re looking for, Father, is-” Damian began, but fumbled his words as Marinette emerged from behind his father’s date. “Beautiful.” Marinette blushed, noticing the boys hide their amusement from the father and son, obviously shocked by their dates appearance. “Thank you, Damian. You look very handsome.” smiled Mari. Damian took his fiancee’s hand and whisked her off to the dance floor. The boys couldn’t handle it anymore and laughed. “Wow, ‘Dad’. Damian has more game then you do!” laughed Tim. Bruce glared at his sons, only for Selina to take his arm and guide him to the dance floor. “You think we’ll see him tonight?” asked Jason. “Not if Selina keeps him away.” replied Dick, as they began to fan out across the room.
“So, the dress?” spoke Bruce, as him and Selina glided along the dance floor. Selina caught the sight of glares being thrown at her adopted kitten and maneuvered them slowly towards the group. “Oh, this? Your little future daughter0in-law made it for me. She’s very talented.” teased Selina, hearing some gasps. “She is.” replied Bruce, “Damian’s already proposed.” “And you didn’t tell me? Shame on you, Bruce.” called out Selina. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but we’ll be starting the speeches soon.” Tim intruded. Bruce nodded and noticed Jason interrupting Damian and Mairnette’s dance, as well.
Suddenly a joyful cry rang through the air. “Marinette, my favorite niece!” shouted Jagged Stone. “Hello, Jagged!” replied Mari, as he hugged her. “What’s this?” he asked, pointing out the ring. “Damian proposed to me earlier this week.” smiled Mari. “Rock-n-Roll! How’s my new favorite nephew?” Jagged shouted, pulling Damian into a hug. Damian could only smile, as Jason glared at him. “Thank you for introducing us, Jagged. You’re definitely on the guest list.” “Rock on!” shouted Jagged. Alya smiled, happily. Not only was Prince Ali here, but so was Jagged Stone. “Let’s go!” she cried, pulling Lila by her hand towards the group. “Heloo, are you one of Marinette’s friends?” the rock n roller questioned. “No, Jagged; they are not.” answered Jason. “Oh, totally un-rock-n-roll.” the American frowned. “it’s okay.” smiled Alya, “I’m friends with Lila and she knows you.” “I don’t know her.” Jagged Stone replied. “But....she saved your cat! She got tinnitus from it!” Alya cried out, letting go of Lila’s hand. Tim started laughing and answered, “Jagged Stoone has a fur allerfy. he’s known since he was five and has a pet crocodile.” “The only cat I would want hanging around me is Paris’ hero.” Jagged said, “Mari, did your parents make their macarons from that movie premiere?” “Sure did, Uncle J.” she smiled. “I’m gonna grab some before they’re all out.” he stated, dashing away, not knowing the confusion he left behind.
Alya was determined to get proof and clear Lila’s name. She spotted the lady that was with Bruce and went to her; she would know. “Miss?” she called out. “Yes?” Selina turned and saw one of her kitten’s classmates, “Oh, you’re one of Marinette’s classmates.” “Yes, um, I overheard you talking about Marinette and Damian, but I think your confused. He’s dating Lila Rossi.” Alya spoke. “Never heard of her.” Selina said, unamused. “She’s childhood friends with him. She grew up in Wayne Manor.” Alya said, retelling details from Layla’s stories. “Well, aren’t you just young and gullible.” Selina smiled, “I have been visiting Wayne Manor since I was a child and I can tell you that Bruce wasn’t aware he had a son until his mother dropped Damian off with him ‘til he was eleven. In fact, Damian’s first language isn’t even English; it’s his fifth. Don’t believe everything you hear.” Alya watched as the lady walked back to Bruce’s side and whisper in his eldest’s ear. he started to chuckle and whispered to his brothers. She felt like a joke. “Babe, what’s wrong?” asked Nino, breaking her out of her stupor. “Lila’s a liar.” she stated. “What?” asked Adrien. “That lady with Mr. Wayne. I mentioned all the stuff Lila told me and she basically laughed at me. Why would Lila lie to us?” she questioned. The three found the Italian girl glaring at Marinette and Damian from across the room.
Gabriel smiled internally, feeling the rage and hurt boiling over on two of his most prized akumas. “Excuse me a moment.” he said, turning away from Audrey, only to come face to face with Bruce Wayne. “Mr. Agreste, how lovely to see you again.” said Bruce, shaking his hand. “Indeed.” Gabriel answered, feeling the rage bubble. he could wait a couple minutes more.
“Is there a problem here?” asked Dick, as security tried to get a girl to leave. “Yes, she was reported not to be allowed entrance.” answered the guard. “Lila is a part of our class and-” spoke Alya, only to be interrupted. “Layla. I thought we were explicit about your punishment.” announced Caline’s arrival. “Ms. Bustier, tell them Lila is part of the class and.....did you call her Layla?” asked the budding journalist. “Yes, it’s the name on her birth certificate, which her aunt gave me. Layla, we told you, you were banned from all extra curricular activities and-” she began. “But it’s not my fault that Marinette-oops” she glanced towards Alya. “Excuse me!” Dick glared at the troubling entourage, “What did you say about my little sister?” “Marinette-” began Lila. “Dupain-Cheng, correct? The one engaged to my youngest brother?” he questioned. Lila took a step back. “My name is Dick Grayson and apparently you have been lying about knowing us, Ms. Rossi. In fact-” “Layla Rossi!” shouted a woman, “Why are you here causing more trouble?” “I-I’m not. I-” began Layla. “You were already grounded for the commotion you have caused with your school. You knew that your uncle and I would be working here at this gala. Did you think we wouldn’t notice you? I’m so glad I spoke with security and gave them your photo!” she cried out. “But-” Layla frantically looked between Ms. Bustier and Alya. “There is no ‘buts’ Layla! You have already caused enough problems with your childish stories. Let’s go home!” she said, dragging the Italian girl away. “Md. Bustier, who-” started Alya. “That was Layla’s aunt. As part of her punishment-” interrupted Caline, only to be interrupted herself. “What punishment?” asked the journalist. “No need to worry; enjoy the gala, Alya.” sighed Ms. Bustier, as she turned back to the festivities.
Gabriel scowled as his akuma was taken away. ‘I don’t have enough time to get away without causing a scene.’ he thought, glancing around the room. His eyes caught sight of his son and whispered for Natalie to check on him. His posture was off. Perhaps it was the food. He could use Adrien to leave the gala, after making a generous donation.
“Adrien, what’s wrong?” Natalie questioned, “Your father noticed your posture was lacking.” The young Agreste heir sighed, “Sorry Natalie. I’m just not feeling well.”“Was it the food? What did you eat?” she asked, getting her pen out. “No, it wasn’t the food. I’ve been feeling like this all week. I’ve been confused and my stomach feels in knots.” he replied. “Is there a certain time this pain occurs?” Natalie asked. ‘Was it possible he was ill? Does he have a virus?’she questioned herself, ‘How did I not notice?’ She watched Adrien’s face as he frowned and said, “It’s usually when I’m thinking of Marinette.” “Oh, thank god; Gabriel isn’t going to kill me. he just likes someone.’ “I see.” she stated, adjusting her glasses, “What exactly is it that you think of her?” “Mari-Marinette is amazing. She’s sweet, thoughtful, beautiful. She has an amazing smile and always tries to do the right thing. She’s an amazing designer.” Adrien ranted on. “Why don’t you simply tell her that?” “I don’t want to insult the Wayne’s. i think it might be misleading to say something like that to Bruce Wayne’s future daughter-in-law.” he explained. “What?” Natalie asked. “Yeah.” he sighed, “Damian proposed to her.” “How long were they-” questioned Natalie. “I don’t know! I-I didn’t even know she was seeing someone.” he huffed. Natalie could sense his confusion and rage that was mostly generated towards himself. “Go have fun with your friends, Adrien, but-” she said, sympathetically. “I know.” Adrien scoffed, rolling his eyes, “Remember to uphold the Agreste name.”
“What did you find out?” questioned Gabriel, taking a champagne glass from his assistant. “It would seem as though your son has feelings for Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng, that he himself is unaware of.” Natalie stated. “And his mood?” Gabriel looked at her while hazing across the room for the baker’s daughter. “He is only noticing these feelings after she has become engaged to Bruce’s son.” she said, taking a sip from her champagne flute. Gabriel found Marinette and recalled the bashful looks she once through his son’s way and saw how brightly her smile shone now. “We should pay our congratulations then.” he smiled, taking note of he ring.
“Miss Dupain-Cheng.” Gabriel stated. “Oh, Mr. Agreste!” Marinette smiled. “It would seem congratulations are in order.” He responded. “Thank you, sir.” mari answered. “How long have you two been dating?” he questioned, “I don’t recall Adrien telling me.”“No one in Paris, aside from my parents, was aware of our relationship.” she said with her head held high. “Oh?” he questioned. ‘Perhaps I can get my akuma after all.’ Gabriel wondered. “Marinette is very well known in Gotham, even if she is there for a small amount of time during the year.” Selina answered, strolling into the conversation, “Hello, my little kitten. I believe I owe you a congratulations. How dare Bruce not tell me right away.” “Thank you, Selina.” smiled Mari. Gabriel observed the atmosphere around the two ladies and could tell they were close. “Those are lovely dresses. Are they from Gotham?” Gabriel questioned. “No, my little kitten here designed them both. I merely suggested what I wanted.” smiled Selina. “The inspiration for my dress is something along the lines that Damian’s mother wore when she introduced him to Bruce. I merely altered the design.” spoke up Marinette. “They are both extravagant.” he stated. “Thank you, Mr. Agreste.” Marinette grinned. “Excuse me for a moment. it seems our boys are up to mischief.” Selina said, excusing herself. “Perhaps an internship is in order?” Gabriel insisted. “Thank you, Mr. Agreste, but I would have to decline.” Mari frowned. “May I ask why?” Gabriel asked, shocked. “When Audrey Bourgeouis asked me to leave to NYC with her, I had family and friends who relied on me. Cared for me. After all these years, I only have my parents, but now I have a family awaiting me in Gotham. I have friends who I only see three months out of the year, who email me daily to see how I am. I have wanted to work for you since I was a little girl, but I have nothing holding me back. I will be moving to Gotham, after graduation, with the Wayne’s. I’ll make a name for myself there. I do appreciate the opportunity though, Mr. Agreste.” she replied, astounding him. “You claim that you have no one?” he questioned, gazing upon his son’s startled face, across the room. “That’s right.” Marinette answered. “Not even my son?” Gabriel asked. Mari bit her lip and treaded carefully on how to approach the subject of Adrien. “A-Adrien, will always be my friend and the first boy I fell in love with. He has shown me that no matter how kind someone can be, they also have to be fierce, passionate, and ready to fight for what they believe in. Your son doesn’t have any of those qualities. I couldn’t keep waiting for someone to fight my battles for me when all he wanted was for me to stay in the background and keep silent to please everyone else. I can’t watch my friends turn against each other because no one will speak up for them. This class will always mean something to me, but it’s now up to them to reach out to me. I won’t wait any longer. Forced to the back and being pushed aside, helped me strive towards my dream. It led to Jagged Stone to commission me to design an outfit for him, to travel with him in case of an emergency. It led me to my fiancee who has done nothing but love me and push me to keep dreaming.” Marinette announced, before looking at her ring. Gabriel could see the longing in her eyes as she stared at her engagement ring. “I hope to hear great things from you, Ms. Dupain-Cheng.” Gabriel smiled before seeing the look of confusion that surrounded his son, as he glanced at the budding designer. ‘Perhaps an akuma isn’t the best move tonight.’ Gabriel thought as he followed his son’s gaze. it never left the baker’s daughter, not even while she danced with her fiancee. If anything, it was becoming painful to watch.
THERE WILL BE ONE MORE FINAL CHAPTER!
